NYSSCA 2008 AWARDS PROGRAM

 

The New York State School Counselor Association offers annual awards at the conference.    The award categories this year:

Ø      School Counselor of the Year

Ø      Career Achievement Award

Ø      Outstanding Program, Practice, or Project

The 2008 Awards Program recognizes excellence in the field.  The School Counselor of the Year will be awarded to the school counselor who best exemplifies the model of an ideal school counselor.  He or she will have exhibited outstanding service to students and/or the profession and have a history of excellence in the field.

The Career Achievement Award recognizes the school counselor or counselor educator whose contributions to his or her students, place of employment, colleagues, and community have been substantial and ongoing.  The recipient must exhibit a commitment to professional school counseling and have a record of service to the profession.

The Outstanding Program, Practice, or Project Award honors the best professional project in the field conducted in the previous school year.  Projects nominated should reflect cutting edge theory or practice in the field and a substantial impact on student development or the professional community.

NYSSCA’s annual awards are designed to recognize the best and brightest in the professional school counseling field in New York State.  All nominees must be members of the New York State School Counselor Association in good standing.
